Nevada County's Only Shotokan Dojo
Martial Arts in Grass Valley
Our classes emphasize karate as a martial art (codified system of combat or self-defense) and not as a sport.
Class Schedule
Classes are Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 6:00 to 7:30 PM. At times there are special trainings during both day and evening hours. Several times a year we host larger seminars with guest instructors. Once a person has advanced to the brown belt level, the dojo is open at any time for self-training and individual instruction.
We request that the beginning student attend at least two classes per week. However, even if this is not possible, we can work with you to find the optimal training regimen.
Group or private lessons may be available upon request.
Fees
Fees are $50 per month for beginners. For senior kyu members (brown belt) and dan members (black belt) dues are $75 per month. There is a $25 annual fee to ASAI if the individual decides that they wish to advance and take an examination. There are no examination fees until the student reaches the Brown belt level.
Fees are paid monthly at the beginning of the month and no contract is required.
For the first month, we recommend the use of loose workout attire. Following the trial period, the student is encouraged to purchase a gi, which is the appropriate practice attire. We will assist you in finding the one you want. They can be very inexpensive or very expensive. We would suggest that the beginning student chose the least expensive white cotton gi.
